SR&ED pricing that scales with you

SR&ED plan selection comes down to one number: how many employees were directly involved in qualifying R&D work during your fiscal year. That's it. All three plans include identical features — the difference is headcount.

Starter (1-9 employees) covers seed-stage and early growth companies. If your engineering team is small but doing genuine technical uncertainty work — building novel systems, solving problems without existing solutions — your claim likely falls here. Starter plan claims typically range from $20K to $150K in combined credits.

Growth (10-29 employees) fits most Series A and B companies with active R&D programs. At this stage, teams often have mixed roles: some engineers doing SR&ED-eligible work, others in maintenance or support. Chrono's time tracking captures that split automatically. Growth claims often reach $300K to $800K in combined federal and provincial credits.

Scale (30+ employees) is for established R&D organizations where the complexity of categorizing work across large teams is the main challenge. At this scale, documentation quality and audit-readiness matter most. Scale plan clients typically see claims above $1M.
